Why Trauma Makes It Hard to Love God — God Loves Us Anyway
Trauma can make trust feel risky, closeness feel unsafe, and love feel complicated. But God is not intimidated by the places where you struggle to trust Him. He stays close.
"We love because he first loved us." — 1 John 4:19
Reflection
Trauma teaches the body and mind that the world is not safe. It can make trust feel risky, closeness feel dangerous, and love feel complicated. When you've been hurt by people who were supposed to protect you, it's understandable that trusting God might feel confusing or even threatening.
God is not offended by your hesitation. He understands why your inner alarm flares, why your guard goes up, and why your heart feels cautious. His love is not fragile. He meets you where you are, not where you think you "should" be. He loves you first, patiently, steadily — even when you're not sure how to love Him back.
Crown Insight
Your difficulty trusting God is not a failure of faith; it's a sign of where you've been wounded. God knows that, and He stays.
Gentle Encouragement
You don't have to force yourself to feel close to God. You can start with honesty: "Lord, I want to trust You, but it's hard." That honesty is worship.

Closing Prayer
God, You know the places where trust feels hard for me. You see the memories, the fear, and the confusion. Thank You that Your love is patient and kind. Help me take one small step toward You today. Meet me in my hesitation and show me that You are safe. In Jesus' name, amen.
